Investigations 101
Investigations 101 was developed over 35 years ago by then Homicide Detective David Rivero while working for the City of Miami Police Department (MPD). Back then, there was no training course that would help and teach new MPD detectives the basics of criminal investigations.
A veteran homicide sergeant and the Miami Police Training Center asked Detective Rivero to help develop a week long course for new detectives. The original course created by Rivero contained a segment titled Developing the Case File. That segment has been augmented and enhanced through the years by Rivero by adding more and more information, such as videos, pictures, samples, and case studies. This compilation of invaluable information and resources is the final product—now titled Investigations 101.
